JAX church to host training for those ministering to sex addicts
Sep 6, 2006

JACKSONVILLE (FBW)-Christ Church in Jacksonville will host a seminar, Ministering to Sexual Brokenness in Your Church, Sept. 22-23. Harvest USA, organizational leaders of the event, will be training small group facilitators who minister to those struggling with pornography, adultery and homosexuality. The training, endorsed by the Jacksonville Baptist Association, will be led by Harvest USA trainers David Lonacre, educational resources coordinator; John Freedman, executive director; Ed LeClair, director of development; and Bob Haywood, Discovery biblical support groups. Each of these men, according to their personal testimonies, has overcome, with Christ's help, sexual addictions. They will teach beginning Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m.

For the past 18 months Christ Church has offered small group support to those suffering with sexual addiction, according to Joe Moore, a leader of the congregation's men's ministry. He said the training would be valuable for both men and women who have a family member with a sexual addiction, although the training is focused on church leadership.
