MIAMI (FBW)–Rosa Lee Franks, retired home missionary with the Baptist Goodwill Center in Miami, died Feb. 23 in Birmingham, Ala. She was 93.

Franks served at the center 40 years as an appointee of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Home Mission Board (now the North American Mission Board) after initially working as a summer missionary with the Goodwill Center 1947-1949. With co-worker Mildred Womack, also deceased, Franks led dozens of Vacation Bible Schools annually and initiated ministries among senior adult residents in Miami neighborhoods, where her ability to speak Spanish and Italian was an asset.

For the last few years Franks was a resident of Rocky Ridge Retirement Residence in Birmingham, the city where she was born in 1918. She was instrumental in organizing a WMU group at the retirement center.

Franks is survived by several nieces and nephews.
