FIRST PERSON: Our job is to save the humans, not the whales

Millions of people in the online world have watched livestream video for days on end as a 15 year old named April prepares to give birth to her baby. April, though, is not a teen mom. April is a giraffe who lives at Animal Adventure Park in New York. People often are as emotionally attached to the lives of animals as they are of people. Report: U.S. abortion rate hits all-time low

The abortion rate in the United States declined to an all-time low, with the number of lethal procedures dropping below a million for the first time since 1975, according to a new report. The Guttmacher Institute is reporting the rate fell to 14.6 abortions per 1,000 women 15 to 44 years old in 2014, which is a decline of 14 percent since its most recent survey in 2011. Kentucky's AG won't defend new late-term abortion ban

Democratic Attorney General Andy Beshear is refusing to defend Kentucky's new law banning late-term abortions if a lawsuit challenges its constitutionality, drawing a sharp rebuke from Republican Gov. Matt Bevin. "This law is clearly unconstitutional based on our review of numerous federal appellate rulings," Beshear said in a statement released Jan. 10. The new law, passed by the General Assembly on Jan. 7, bans abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, the point at which babies can survive outside the womb. Bevin chastised Beshear ...

"It forces physicians to deliver a government-mandated, ideological message to patients in violation of the First Amendment, all the while causing harm to their patients," the ACLU claims in the lawsuit. Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin signs pro-life bills into law

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin signed bills into law on Jan. 7 that ban late-term abortions and require women seeking abortions to undergo ultrasounds. Both laws took effect as soon as Bevin's signature was applied. Lawmakers held a rare session on Saturday (Jan. 7) to give final passage to a series of high-priority bills, including two that would curb abortions. The late-term abortion law bans the procedures after 20 weeks of pregnancy, except in cases in which the mother's life is in danger. Physicians ...
