JACKSONVILLE (FBC)—Four younger Florida Baptist pastors preached short, pithy sermons in a “camp meeting” style at the Florida Baptist Evangelism Conference March 17-19 at North Jacksonville Baptist Church. The three-day meeting drew a total of nearly 850 in evening sessions and is a Florida Baptist Convention annual event (see related story).

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (FBC)--Keith Thomas, past president of the Florida Baptist State Convention 1996-1997, died Saturday April 6 in The Woodlands, Texas, from pancreatic cancer. He was 57. He had suffered with the disease for five years.

At the time of his FBSC presidency, Thomas was pastor of First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, where he served from April 1990 to July 2003, when he was called as pastor to Cottage Hills Baptist Church in Mobile, Ala.

TALLAHASSEE (FBC)–It was Sunday morning after one of the biggest home games in Florida State’s football season. While many in Seminole Country were nursing hangovers and celebratory party fatigue after the night game, several hundred college students and young adults arrived at City Church to hear Pastor Dean Inserra proclaim what really matters in life.

Danielle Gouletas has discovered what really matters. On that Sunday, the junior marketing student from Tampa was baptized in the church’s portable baptistery.
