ALEXANDRIA, La. (BP)—Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the well-known and respected breast cancer charity, has been the subject of a serious game of political football. In the end, abortion supporters applied intense pressure and scored a big victory for their cause and a small monetary win for Planned Parenthood.

News broke Jan. 31 that Komen was ceasing grants to Planned Parenthood designated for breast-health related services. The grants totaled approximately $680,000. Komen officials insisted the decision to defund Planned Parenthood had to do with the fact the organization is currently under congressional investigation—and not with Planned Parenthood’s abortion services.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (BP)—Those hostile to the Christian faith in the United States seem to have a reading comprehension problem with respect to the First Amendment of the Constitution.

Either that or they are deliberately twisting it in order to mute the influence of Christian thought in the public square.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (BP)—What is more preferable than being a child born into a poor home? According to Rep. Gwen Moore the alternative is being aborted—killed in your mother’s womb.

Children in poor homes, particularly single parent homes, are subjected to “eating Ramen noodles” and “mayonnaise sandwiches,” Moore said during a debate in the House of Representatives over a bill that would defund Planned Parenthood of federal tax dollars.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (BP)—“Hide and watch,” my dad used to tell me. “Hide and watch.” My father’s oft-repeated phrase was a constant reminder that much can be discerned and learned by simple observation. A recent Internet “event” has once again proved the value of my father’s wisdom.
