Some people think they can turn off their conscience. Don’t believe it. Paul says that God’s law is “written on the heart.” And although we can be desensitized to evil, we can’t really forget that it’s evil. Even if you drive your conscience underground, you can never erase it.

Baptist statesman dies in Wauchula

JACKSONVILLE (FBW)-Doyle Elam Carlton Jr., 80, died May 10 at his home in Wauchula. He served on several Southern Baptist Convention boards, including the SBC Peace Committee, 1985-1987, and the Executive Committee, 1970-1978. He was a member of the Brotherhood Commission, 1956-1963, Foreign Mission Board, 1964-1969, and the Baptist World Alliance, 1970-1975. Carlton was first vice-president of the Florida Baptist State Convention in 1960.
