What is an unreached people group?

A people group is a group of individuals, families and clans who share a common language and ethnic identity. The most noticeable characteristic is language, but race, religion, heritage and even socioeconomic differences are also defining people-group factors.

Southern Baptist overseas missions

In 2002, Southern Baptists gave $9.4 billion through their offering plates. The IMB received $115 million through LMCO and $90 million through the Cooperative Program. That’s a total of $203 million – just over two cents of every dollar received by the churches. With 78 percent of IMB budget going toward personnel and staff, the choices that churches’ make in their giving limit the spending choices available to the IMB.

Florida IMB missionaries minister around the world

Each year during the Week of Prayer for International Missions, Florida Baptist Witness honors the International Mission Board missionaries who have Florida ties. According to the IMB, 357 missionaries list Florida as their home state. Because of security reasons and at the request of the IMB, not all personnel are pictured and regional areas, not countries, are listed with the missionaries’ names.

Rankin: Missionaries are ‘champions of Southern Baptists’

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FBW)-Six missionaries with Florida ties joined 61 others Nov. 11 at a missionary appointment service held in conjunction with the Kentucky Baptist Convention annual meeting in the Rupp Arena. They are Thomas and Lee Smith; Charles and Robin Taylor; and Bryan and Deana Wolf.

Ala. Justice Roy Moore removed from office by judicial court

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (BP)–A judicial court removed Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore from office Nov. 13, saying he violated the state’s code of judicial ethics by not following a federal court order to remove a Ten Commandments monument.

Musicians inspire convention-goers to worship

TAMPA (FBW)—Florida choirs, orchestras, ensembles and soloists led messengers in worship during the four sessions of the Florida Baptist State Convention in Tampa Nov. 10-11. The groups chose to perform arrangements of classic hymns, praise hymns and new compositions.
