He was also involved in the YMCA at a time when the “C” was strongly emphasized. As a Floridian, the thought of an enemy's nuclear missiles this near our borders is very troubling. This anxiety would have been even greater in 1962 considering Soviet premier, Nikita Khrushchev, had told a group of western ambassadors in Moscow in 1956, “We will bury you.” The Cuban Missile Crisis was a crisis because America's enemy had communicated their intentions for those nuclear missiles.
